RANT ALERT:

My 2011 season is not going well.

In 2010 I started the season in the 1st XI having had a pretty good 2009. I was shocking though. Didn't net as much as I should have, mind was on other things, form was consequently shocking. Got dropped to the 2's midway through the season.

In the 2's I either batted 4, or if one of our openers was unavailable (which ended up being fairly often) I opened. I did pretty well. In half a season I scored just under 300 runs averaging just under 30, and missed out on winning our 2nd XI batting averages by a whisker. I also started bowling in the 2's towards the end of the season, ending up with 10 wickets at 10 from 4 spells.

So, this year, aim was to try and break back in to the 1st XI (I feel there are at least 2 guys in our 1's who I should be good enough to replace), and also keep developing my bowling, looking to be a genuine all rounder in the 2's, and hopefully be able to do a job in the 1's if needed.

I've started this year in the 2's, as expected, under a new skipper. So far I've played 4 fixtures. Mostly I've been asked to bat at 6. Didn't bat in our first game, 32* from 20 balls in the 2nd game having only gotten to the crease with half a dozen overs left, 34 from 40 balls in 3rd match, again, batting with less than 10 overs left, I was out with 2 overs to go, and then yesterday 6 from 4 balls (batting 8 this time).

I've only bowled 4 overs, which were in a cup game, didn't think I bowled particularly badly, but got hit for 30 runs, by a very aggressive batsman (all bowlers that bowled at him went for tap too)

So basically, my season is feeling like a complete non-event. Hitting the ball really well,  but don't fell like I'm being given a fair chance by the skipper, who off the back of 4 overs on a good deck, seems to have completely lost faith in my bowling (yesterday he only used 3 bowlers, when a 4th was obviously needed)

The batting is a tough one, as the 5 guys batting ahead of me have all scored runs, so it's hard to argue that any of them are batting too high - I just feel hard done by as based on last years performances I felt I deserved to be ahead of them in the pecking order when the season started.

If it makes you feel any better mate, I've currently got a dislocated finger so I've been out of action for 2 weeks. And it is absolutely killing me! This shows the extent of it...

Pretty out of place I think you'll agree!

...presumably you've had it re-located?

I've seen someone do that in a match, they walked over to the umpire and just asked them to pull it out - they did, and he carried on!

I also know someone who did that and then tried to push it in (when it needed pulling out) and made a right mess!

Bowled 5 overs yesterday, bowled well but sadly only got 1 wicket when I should have got 3-4. One batsmen who was on about 20(Went on to make 50) chipped it straight up only to be dropped by the slip catcher and then I had a very good LBW shout against him next ball. They went on to make about 180 off their 45 overs.

We started batting and lost our best batsmen very early for 7. I came in at 4 and played very sensibly before edging it to a very athletic fat man in the slips for 3 runs(Apparently it was similar to this:
) We ended all out on about 100 and are now bottom of the league I think.

we also won again...we batted 1st and got 206-8 and they ended up with 153-8

currently 3rd in the league, only lost one game to one of the best teams in the league (in the last over they needed 8 and hit a 6 second ball and then 2, game over).

RANT OVER

I feel for you. I played so well last season. Changed clubs this year to play a better standard. Started the season batting 6, which i was slightly dissapointed at as i feel i can be batting higher in my team. However only scored 45 runs in 5 games so far and the people batting above me are getting scores. Was promoted to 3 yesturday as i normally score quickly and we were chasing 270 odd, went in 4th ball of the innings, batted nicely for 15 overs then got out for about 15-20 throwing my hands at a wide and edging it! :( Each week i seem to be getting myself in and not making a score. As for my bowling i have been given 2 overs so far and i got a wicket. Thought i'd get a go yesturday when the opposition were 171-1 off 30 overs but was overlooked again...

Yeah It's back in place, but it's still very swollen. And still painful! I went to A+E to get it done, as mine was fairly comprehensive and I didn't want to risk doing it myself if I'd fractured it!

Got beaten by a team who haven't lost for 3 years today. They got 250-10 and we got 180-8 in 45.

I bowled 1 over for 2 runs -.- and got 21 off of 40 balls opening.

It's ok mate, plenty of us have been d&h'd in the last few years! Interesting that you got loads of abuse, we didn't get any of that last year but then they did annihilate us!
