Today we lost to a bunch of twats. They posted 285 in 35 overs on a road, and taking the piss in the meantime.

We only got 180ish in our 35 overs due to a lot of our team being youth members. I got 47 from 32 and bowled consistently but still went for a few.

We won't be playing them again though.

Saturday- 153 in the league against a pretty decent bowling attack.

Sunday- 0. Golden Duck, caught on the boundary from a beamer that wasn't called no-ball!

Cricket is a funny game!

Played again today, against a team fielding numerous players that were far above the standards of the league. I caught one, however I dropped one when the batsmen shouted "Two" just as I was about the catch it, luckily I was close to the stumps so I just ran him out instead.

They made 230 after a big black guy with a Laver & Wood(first time I have ever seen one used) came in at number 6 and smashed a massive 93* (He was FAR too good for this standard, he was able to play even the best balls away for 4 or even 6) and we somehow scrapped our way to match their total, even after 2 of our batsmen who went to umpire miscounted the balls in an over(4 ball over followed by a 5 baller).

Didn't get to bat but still it was a good game and it was good to get a catch, always improves the confidence.

Grafted hard for 40 off 51 balls, came in at 3 and had some really nice shots but some edges through the slips (had just rained and was overcast initially). Got out to a top top yorker, can't complain. Kept well though. 4 byes up to over 41 (last over), then our overseas sprayed two really fast ones, one leg side and one kept low and both went for 4 byes :( Felt awful to see your figures go quite badly in 2 balls :(
But on the bright side I had 2 stumpings.Though I stumped a 14 year old in his first Adult Game, felt really bad about it after, but I just instinctively took the bails off.... :S

Haha I guess. It was grafted. A lot of plays and misses, a couple of edges. Needed to rely on good running and putting the bad ball away. Not my most fluent but still a good score :) - Takes me up to 510 runs for the year so far :D

Sunday Friendly today, couple of 2s/3s bowlers but then it got worse, after I got out damnit!
14 y.o. was OK, I think he was nervous, he fielded really well, but was out 2nd ball thanks to me. :(
On Saturdays I play 3s, decent standard. Pushing 2s though, and I'll be playing in the Sunday League games for my club later in the season.

ahh fair enough, when you said a 14 year old was playing adult cricket i had to question the standard tbh, but sunday sides can be a real mix

Wow!! A guy in the league I am in apparently scored 1200 odd runs in 12 knocks last year (9 n/o's), averaging 400 for the season. Not sure if its true but someone said he played in a couple of IPL games this year. Would have to grab the league handbook and see his name though.

Didn't play (still out from dislocation) but my lot lost both days. Leaves us with 1 win out of 3 on a Sunday, and 0 out of 5. And bottom, by a fair way. Not good! On the plus side, I'm back this week, so that's always a personal positive!

Got a shocker of an lbw from a "neutral" umpire on saturday (2) and threw away an easy chance for a hundred on sunday trying to hit the spinner into next week (77 off 58)

Very strange game imho:-

1. If you score y61 in 25, then why do you bat 7 the following week - has your captain had a common sense bypass?
2. What kind of attack ships 244 off 35 having had the oppo 98-6
3. I can only assume 80-1 off 9 meant they had 3 batsman lol!

The first game was a t20, my type of game obviously
I am the captain, and i usually bat at 6 but put the number 7 in ahead of me and our number 5 to see off the opening bowlers Which he did well in doing.
Me and the number 8 batted properly, restricting ourselves, totally against our own normal games, hes a big hitting south african!
Well there number 4 was apparently handy but we got him first ball thank god lol
