Dissapointing game yesterday. We bowled first, the oppo got 250-9 from 50 overs. In reply we started very badly, being 17-5 at one point. Bowled out for 79 and we are no longer top of the league :( Hopefully it was just a blip and we will be back to winning ways next week!

Good win yesterday.  Was dropped down to number 5 having opened all season as I haven't been getting enough runs (can't really argue as I am only averaging 20 in league cricket).  Top order had a bit of a 'mare and we were 60-4 and 88-5.  Grafted really hard for 38 to get us into a decent position, then our number 8 came out and whacked it, making 69 in 38 balls.  We got up to 225-8 declared from 51 overs.  The oppo showed no inclination to go for the runs, but were difficult to prise.  We eventually bowled them out for 142, with the lad that made 69 taking 5-fer with his off spin.

Good to get back to winning ways having had a poor couple of weeks.

Played a 40 over friendly this afternoon, having been told it was a reasonable standard. Opened the bowling, and after 4 overs, I'd figures of 4-2-5-3, and got taken off. All three wickets bowled thanks to inswing and seam movement, the first being a regulation late indipper that the batsman played around outside off stump and it hit the stump, the second an inside edge on to his pads and through the gap between his legs before rolling onto the stumps with just enough pace to remove the bails (he wasn't happy and couldn't believe it) and the third a late indipper that swung from middle and off to leg, pitched and cut back, to bounce off the pads onto the stumps.

We bowled them out for 68 in 21, then we scored them for the loss of 3 wickets in 11 overs. One of our bowlers took 5 for 0 off 4, with me poaching the slowest slip catch I've ever seen as the ball looped up off the outside edge. I nearly missed it because it came so slowly!

Decided not to hang around and play in the beer match. Last thing I heard we were 50 odd for 2 off 5...

Won our T20 semi final this morning against the odds after losing our main batsmen but keeping up with the 7 per over run rate for the 1st 10. Went into the last 3 overs requiring 32 to win, this went down to 15 required off the last over when our number 7 hit a 4 followed by a six after scampering a few singles early on.....last ball we needed one to win it chasing 141 and he spanked a 4 to see us through to the cup final again next sunday!

would be great to defend the title and we have my local side Chew Magna to take on as well for the trophy....either way going to be a loooong day next sunday on the beer front!!!

Decent little victory today. Batting first bowled out after 38 overs of our 40 allocated overs for 344. I made 5 before running myself out. Bowled them out in the 31st for 150ish. Nice little finish to the Sunday league. Played 10. Won 7. Abandoned 3. Nice little unbeaten season. Just got to wait for weeks to see if other teams can catch us due to there being a staggered fixture set and other teams having less rained off than us so far.

We played a friendly and oppo got 333-7 off 40 with one lad get 185*. He was an aussie overseas and we thought when they had 220-2 in 33 overs and he reached his 100, we would retire. It's the kind of thing most teams do on a Sunday to give everyone a hit. We even shoved on a load of joke/weak bowlers as a big hint. He (and his brainless captain) ignored the hint and wrecked it as a contest by tea. We did slap up 220 in 29 overs ourselves with Simmy getting 50 in 6 overs but nobody carried on or got out early (me). You do need 4 guys scoring 50's or 1 lad going big chasing 300 and we didn't quite manage either. We couldn't believe it when they started our innings with a sweeper and at 30-0 off 3 had 5 men on the boundary!. Stupid negative win at all costs cricket that best left for a Saturday.

Nice wicket, fast outfield, short boundaries.

Lost today, they got 190-9. Their opener came out and smashed it, they were 70-0 off 11! Me and the other spinner came on, slowed it down, I took 10-1-36-1, decent enough. Went for 16 in my first 2 as well. In reply we were 45-5 when I went in, after 14 overs. Went into test match mode, got 28* off about 90 balls. Hit the fielder a fair amount, but just couldn't get it away enough really. Didn't rotate the strike enough either. Ended up 140-9, we were never going to get it when we lost 4 wickets for 2 runs to be fair!

Lost a really tight, really good game of cricket today.  We made 222-8 off our 40 overs.  I made 108 off 74 balls batting at 3, next highest score for us was 22.  In truth some of the guys ate up too many balls and didn't rotate the strike enough.  I really wanted 240/250 but we couldn't quite get there.  The oppo's opener played beautifully for 107, and even though we took wickets towards the end, they got to their target with 3 balls to spare.

Playing 2nd team today (yes they were ridiculously short) and played with the best bowler I've ever played/scored/watched. Not only could he bowl a batsmen out with ease, he could talk them out as well, and at 2nd team cricket that takes a big affect. Today, first game he played in 8 years (first ball was as good as his last), he took 5-22 off 13.4 overs and 6 of those runs were fielding mistakes.

We ended up bowling them out for 116 and knocked it off for 4.

First attempt at captaincy today :D
Played a weak-medium friendly team with a team with only 4 adults in it...I was one of 7 colts and the average age was 20  :-[
Struggled to get 11 players there (away game) and the player giving me a lift was really stressed as I found out it was a 1pm start :S  :( - at 11.30 on the day :(

Lost the toss, and they elected to bowl (no-brainer on a green deck...).
We struggled to 148 - one of my fellow colts ran me out without facing a ball and I was in at number 5.
Not happy, but he anchored the innings making 27 off about 30 overs on a very very dodgy deck. :)

We then bowled them out for 128, many said I captained well and some of my bowling changes were inspired ;) - my favourite was putting a colt on to bowl spin (ie. scrambled seam and slow...) and he got their set batsman out for 56 stumped by me and then got another wicket next ball! :D

Kept OK too 7 byes 1 stumping and the messiest run out ever seen!

Big game today. Playing a cup semi final against a team that we have lost to twice in the league.....its the only two times we have been beaten this year!
