Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been provided with extra security after reportedly receiving an extortion letter demanding Rs50 lakh (US$ 103,091). News reports say his security has been upgraded to ‘Z’ category – the highest level in India - and he has a 45-strong team protecting him. Police officials said Dhoni's family received the extortion letter on Monday. Earlier this month, Dhoni travelled unescorted to the Ranchi airport after seemingly being unsatisfied with the level of security given to him. He also applied for a licence for a .9mm pistol.

Price one pays to be a celebrity and that too being in news so much. Similar threat was given to sachin (not for extortion, but for militant group wanting to eliminate him)......

That is not racist, im just telling the truth. Why would any indians send him a Exortion letter? They love him in India.

Oh Tikolo don't be so niave. The cricket world is trying to be ruled by Indian influences and many of them revolve around match betting both legal and illegal.

It could be anybody.  The Indian 'underworld' is full of many dangerous and unscrupolous men and women. Also there are many corrupt officials in both Pakistan and India. Also not everyone in India loves Dhoni or anyone of their stars , just like Lewis Hamilton is not revered by everyone in England.

PERSONALLY I think it is most likely a chancer who wants to be famous or lucky.
