Bulldog Growler
« on: April 21, 2011, 01:49:08 PM »

Hi all,

Just received the Growler that Kieron listed on here a week ago.
First off let me just say thanks to Kieron for a great product!!

The bat is a Gem! It's bigger than expected for the weight (2lb 6oz gripped, labelled and toe guard), 12 slightly wavy grains, nice sized edge that is definitely bigger than a 50p.
Makes my Kook CCX450 look small. About 4 butterflies by the toe area, maybe 2-3 inches up from the toe, but honestly it just adds to the beauty of the bat.

I've already put a 2nd snake grip on and will have some pictures up later tonight! Can't wait to get this into the nets.

Nice bat mate, real nice profile for the weight.

Btw, I'm really interested in how the bat performs in the area where those butterfly stains are. Usually these stains stiffen the bat, so guessing it would make the ball fly ...

Those are not Butterfly stains, they are not stains at all, it is graping caused by the buds on the tree not being wiped off and small branches forming. They are a lot harder than clean willow and although they will reduce performance they will stop that area from damaging so good in the toe.

Yes, a Butterfly stain hardens without adding weight and also has no real loss of performance although the most sort after location is in the back of the toe.

I used to get the Butterfly model from Warsop made to my shape and sometimes get 1 stain, sometimes 4/5 which is bar stain, they all went and you get a bit bigger shape for your money.

I'm not afraid to admit that I'd want them in the back rather than the face but it seems odd that there has not been a forum trend for Butterflys.

I have clefts available if we are starting one....
