I was at my club today and I was speaking to a team mate who has just taken receipt of a new custom made bat. Although it looks a good piece of willow (performance not yet examined) and the fact that it came from a well thought of maker, it has a few obvious issues which I want your thoughts on before I get back to him.
Firstly, the bat had been made in a fashion that I can only describe as 'shoddy'. There is an obvious difference in width of the two edges on each side, several millimetres in places. Although I didn't get chance to explore this further, I'd imagine such a difference would effect the balance and feel of the bat. Not to say of course such a difference is down to a lack of thought and care in making.
I didn't really bring it up with him, but what do you think? As I said, the maker is well regarded worldwide.
