My New Willow....
« on: May 02, 2011, 11:30:55 AM »

With my bat breaking on Wednesday night I glued and taped it up for the weekend. I arranged to meet Mike this morning and he said he would bring a few bats for me to look at.

I arrived at Tesco car park Dorchester this morning, it was hard getting up after the first weekend of league cricket! Mike arrived and opened up his boot. I had a few bats to look and and settled on one. He then stickered it up and put an anti-scuff on. Then talked to Mike for a while and he sure knows his stuff, also got an idea of how busy he is!

That Bat

This was a blank one Mike had with him, 2lbs 7oz 3/4 on his scales and now on mine with stickers/grip/scuff it is 2lbs 9/10oz. It has a slightly longer middle than my other and has no concaving (which is good!). It has 13 grains and a strip of heartwood on the inside edge. The pick up is very good and it seems very responsive off the mallet.

Here and the pictures

Looks great, no concaving is the way to go. I wish I didn't live so far away from all these bats, I'd love to check out what Mike's got in stock.

Mike does like to meet us in car parks and have us stroke his wood!
But to be fair, his booty is full of glorious stuff!  ;)

The edges are only the size they are in the pic with the £2 coin around 36mm
