Well there were a few people on other threads about Joda that said it was just sticking garish stickers on Hawk bats and selling them for very high prices etc without doing much research etc.

Fair play though for not just shipping it all from India/Pakistan. I dealt with the bloke last year and he left a rubbish impression

Nothing wrong with the re-badging approach, I don't think the pricing was that far out but to enter a crowed market you need a USP. Mongoose have one with the design but without such innovation Joda needed to head down another route. I still think a £100 G1/2 bat, if possible, was one way to enter the market in volume. However, I guess the Joda guys felt the compromises were too great.

they were talking about the best softs possible without pictures or anything flash in the pan stuff

I though Instinct were the same if truth be told but there bats are quality indeed and the pictures of Instinct softs suggest there something special indeed

Perhaps people will appreciate a little more now what value u get off here....when u knock 20% vat off any product and take into account the raw cost of a bat/glove/pad etc u have to think that the company I'm question has o make some margin to sustain itself to meet it's overheads and running costs alone....not to mention amy profit!

Not bats sorry Tom.

For me the price difference  of a grade 1 and grade 2 is bad...

when the raw cost difference is under 25 pound possible as low as 6 pounds

Dave you have to remember a few things, yes you can buy willow at any grade from the merchant we all know that.

You get returns, you get willow that won't perform and you get willow the is good/great.  So you make the bat and this takes time, it could be good, it could be bad, it could be great but it is still your time, grading, shaping, pressing the damned thing.

So all of a sudden your return % on buying lower grade willow is lower then buying high grade willow is well not worth it based on that return.

It is really easy to say I'm going to buy £6 clefts and make my money on the upgrade but in all truthfulness it will never happen
