Hi Guys

Totally random I know

But I remember quite a few years ago there used to be a guy in Berkshire making bats namely Imperial

He sponsored quite a few of the Surrey Young Cricketers back in the day and made really nice bats

Does anyone know what happened to him or the company ??

How long ago are you talking?

I have vague memories of an Imperial bats around 15 years ago. Think it was an Asian gentleman that ran it and on reflection it was probably one of those who was just stickering asian bats. I remember he was very proud of having provided Ijaz Ahmed with a bat that scored alot of runs against Australia.

At least a decade ago from what I can remember

I remember paying him a visit at his workshop in berkshire and he made me a bat completely hand made

Do remember him having Ijaz Ahmad and Inzi on his books

He also said his son was having trials and scotland, then he just disappeared remember he advertised in the back of the cricketer mag

Just curious as to what happened to him thats all

Sounds like the guy. I've no idea what happened to him, he just went off the radar in the same way CBC did at the same time. Trading one week, gone the next.

Scares me to think how many little batmakers were out there 15 years ago that have gone.

I had my first custom made from him, when he had a workshop near maidenhead, he then moved and made bats out of his garage near windsor. The bat was awesome, 96 with fthe first hit in a T20, still got it but not useable. Had a second one from him but it was not so good, ended up selling it and never went back to him.

Hi Guys, I am Hassan Mughal, Imperial Bats was and still is my brand....hand making bats as all who saw me make the bats from start to finish will vouch was a tedious and highly labour intensive business. In 2000, after five years of blood, sweat and toil the business stopped paying bills. I have continued to make bats for friends, family and some international players who still keep in touch. I read a forum response from someone alleging I was placing stickers on asian bats. How utterly bizarre! My email address is available for anyone who needs advice or bat. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum Hassan. There are always allegations from people about stickering up bats so dont take it personally. It was only Jonpinson ;). Would be good to see some of the bats you have made for the pros and dont be surprised if you have some forum members requesting bats especially those that are local to you.

Ha, I met the infamous Hugo who featured on your brochure, so 90's city boy...

I really liked the look of the brand but never quite got round to buying one, a real shame but if you still have the purple stickers I might yet be tempted...

Good to have you aboard.
