Shin Pads
« on: May 20, 2011, 10:57:40 AM »

Hiya,

Need reccomendation for shin pads for fielding. I have really bad shin splints and while nets last night, the ball clearly loved my shin area especially the exact place where it hurts most.  :-[  :-[  :-[

Do you mean the strap things to help prevent against Shin Splints? Try searching for calf sleeves, all they do is compress. My friend has some he uses to prevent shin splints to play football in. However I think they are more of a gimmick rather than proven to help.

I think it would be better to do exercises to prevent this.

No, I meant like Shin pads... to protect the shins from the cricket ball hitting it. Like the ones footie players wear. Shin splints are only temporary but if ur hit on the shin shin slpints or not, it hurts... Anyone wear football shin pads here? Are they any good???

I wear them when I'm playing football... I don't exactly get struck on the shins that often when fielding...

Do you field very close? As you can get fielding pads which you wear underneath your trousers http://www.cricketspecialist.co.uk/product.php?id=1272

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.
