New South Wales (NSW) batsman David Warner and Aiden Blizzard of Victoria will use the double blade bats for the first time in Australia's Twenty20 tournament.
 
Warner, tried the new bat in the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) nets for the first time Sunday and will unveil it in the Twenty20 match against South Australia at Adelaide Oval Tuesday. Blizzard will use it for Victoria against Western Australia (WA) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) Thursday.
 
The Sydney Morning Herald reported Monday quoting one of the manufacturers of the bat that the design is legal but will give an extra edge to the batsman.
 
The option of using the back of the bat to reverse sweep or reach forward and "lap" a ball over their shoulder will give innovative batsmen such as Warner more time when playing shots. But the batsman does not believe it will change the balance between bat and ball.

The Laver double sided bat is minging! I believe the Gray-Nic version is a different design. A more conventional shape, but with a flat hitting area on the back, as oppose to the whole of the back being flat. The Laver looks like something you would use to row a boat.

Warner hit an absolutley massive six off Shaun Tait onto the roof of the Adelaide Oval with the Double sided bat against South Australia, but then he changed back to his Predator Max after a while

This bit is quite interesting too:

Davis revealed Slazenger was a week away from releasing a new bat designed by Danny Waugh, a younger brother of former Test stars Steve and Mark -- called the Clubba -- in competition with Gray-Nicolls, maker of Warner's double-sided bat.

"The Waugh bat has a slightly longer handle for batsmen who go the tonk, no shoulders and a power zone.

"While we're marketing for the 50-over form of the game, it can also be used for Twenty20."

Sounds like a mallet or a baseball bat! As much I like all the innovation and techie aspects of cricket bats at least try and keep the bat looking as traditional as possible.
