Quality difference between 1st/2nd/3rd Team
« on: May 22, 2011, 08:04:59 PM »

Played in the National Cup game today against Reading CC (First team debut), amazed me the difference in quality. Intensity was also really high... have much more respect for the people playing first team, it isnt easy at all.

So whats the general consensus? Do people think there is a big gap between 1st/2nd and 3rd's? Main thing I have noticed is that in 3rd team cricket you will always get at least 1 bad ball an over to put away.

Massive difference between 2nd and 1st team cricket at my old club, similar gaps between 4 to 3's and 3 to 2's but much easier to make the jump due to the levels involved.

They had a couple of Hertfordshire guys playing, I couldn't get anywhere near the ball! Was so late on everything!

Main difference i have noticed is intensity, accuracy of bowlers which means you have to find runs off decent balls and batsmen generally seem a little more solid

Absolutely massive gulf between 1st team and 2nd team across the country however it can differ from league to league but still a major step up.

our 3s and 4 are not great, more a youth development set-up. Our 1s and 2s are playing a pretty similar standard. Saying that, Opening for the 1s is a lot harder than for the 2s. I guess it's the consistency as I normally score at more than a run a ball but in the ones I'm more test match.

1s is a lot Whittier too

There is also more banter but also much more aggression and a competitive edge which i relish, just need to get some bloody runs and stay in the one lol

Big difference between our 1sts and most of our 2nds 1 or 2 could get in but rest would struggle
