Distinct lack of Mongoose
« on: May 27, 2011, 07:00:10 PM »

It only occured to me today that this year's IPL has been completely devoid of the Mongoose brand. Now, considering that last year even the IPL itself was trying to ram the brand down our throats, it seems odd that this year there hasn't been so much as a word.

All part of the masterplan or has it fallen flat on it's face?

That's neither here nor there though. I don't like the idea, it doesn't suit my playing style, but I'd imagine they got a lot of sales off the back of last year's promotion via the IPL.

Interesting lack of response as we have at least one member directly associated with the brand. If the technology did indeed perform as described, surely we'd have seem players choosing to use them in the IPL this year.

Except Tresco who in current form could score runs with a stick of celery, all the big name sponsorships seem to have gone too.

I know Tom left, we wern't told why.

Unless that can be verified I wouldn't read too much into it. It would hardly be the first time a batmaker...sorry, bat sander made an almost unverifiable claim against a rival brand. For that to be the case, the bat in question would have to have been tried and tested, I just can't see it. Besides, I know of no batmakers employed by MH these days. Just some guys handy with a sander and adept at applying stickers.

I have no axe to grind with Mongoose, although I'll admit the concept does nothing for me and if their claims were accurate the pro market would be flooded with them. Whether Tresco uses a Mongoose or another bat restickered I don't know, but there seems to have been a sensational fall from grace in just 12 months.

Probably because it's none of our business.

Indeed. The thread isn't about that though.

Jon - both Rob and Nick at MH are podshavers to my knowledge? Not just sanders and sticker applying executives
