« on: June 02, 2011, 08:22:16 PM »

just received some new pds today and they feel a little stiff for my liking and think i prefer my old ones, do the new pads need time to break in???? whats your thoughts peeps

i currently wear the M&H distinction pads which IMO are a class fit, and have recently got the Gray Nics legends

thanks

As much as I hate to admit he's right..... ;)

Dave (procricket) told me to soak them totally in a bath of cold water for 5mins, and then tie them up as tight as you can (or wear them) and let them dry for a couple of days

Worked a dream mate

Yes, pads require breaking in especially when new because they are stiff.

Best way is to wear them around, run etc or sleep in them thats what I once did worked well for me and had a great night too! :)

Mikey if it's not broke don't fix it. Two options
1 stick with the m and h's
2 give the new pads to a youngster in the club to do the wearing in for u.

The M&H pads do have the split knew roll which will make them looser. But your new pads will get looser in a few innings.

I just did the straps up as tight as I could and then tied string around the top hat. Worked a treat!

I did this on my Legend pads because you had recommended it.

So one thing I see now is that the strings on the face outside have turned brownish, did this happen with yours as well ?
