My New Hattori LE
« on: June 03, 2011, 07:56:20 PM »

After exchanging a few emails with Matt, I made the trip down to the workshop (even down some potholed country lane) today to pick up a bat and some pads. When I arrived at the workshop I came into a room full of bats with a couple of pro bats including Darren Stevens' and Azhar Mahmood's

After a chat with matt, he told me that he didn't have any bats of the 5* grade and excel shape that I was looking for but then he showed me a fantastic LE part made bat which he had, I loved it so the extra money came out. The bat needed finishing (sanding, buffing and binding) so he did this while I was there and only took about 40 minutes, of which this was the result.

I count 16 grains and the ping off the mallet is amazing, there are a few seam marks where I bounced a ball up and down, and the ping is so great that when my brother had a go he smashed a light fitting :(

Is it a hattori monster? I thought the little monster on the edge was only on the 666 monsters, or did you just ask for the hattori stickers on a 666? It's bloody lovely mind, whatever it is :D

its just a normal excel but i asked for hattori stickers because i have the hattori gloves and pads now and i also asked for the monster branding thing.

it weighed 2.9 with no binding, stickers or grip so its would be about 2.10/11 dressed

Yeah I am so happy with it, just a shame I have to wait a while to let the oil dry and then knock it in.

I'd go as far as to say (having used bats from the esteemed makers) that Matt is at least equal to names such as J. Millichamp, T. Keeley, A Kember etc etc.

Support him chaps, a true english batmaker. And a rather outstanding one at that.

plus his branding is way cooler!

still without out doubt, my favourite ever name for a cricket brand! far too rock n roll! (typing this one handed and doing rock hands with the other)
