To be fair, 7 test matches should go to 7 test grounds. Lord's shouldn't get 2. Just like India have 12 or so grounds and you get what the BCCI picks.

Back to the thread though, Day night Test matches would be a nightmare thanks to the way dew falls in the UK. It would almost be two different games. That played prior to dewpoint and that played post.

The point I was making is that when the scheduling is right test matches in England are well attended - the Rose bowl next week will have a good crowd too. As a result my view that test matches in England are well attended is valid.
The ECB give the matches out to the grounds who pay the most money (which makes financial, but little other sense). They use the "spreading the game" argument to pretend that isn't the case. Anyone who things differently is a little naive.

And Lords should get 2 tests as they sell the most tickets and raise the most revenue for the ECB

I agree that in England day night tests are not needed as they are generally well attended, the timing in the UK is not the problem I think it is the price of tickets. The prices for some games are ridiculous and I think the main reason some people stay away. In countries where test match audiences are dwindling day night games could be a viable option. However would putting the start back a couple of hours really increase crowd numbers in any noticeable way? If people are not interested they are not going to go regardless of the start time

Lol, it wasn't that it swung more or less, it just felt really bad off the bat and I didn't like it. Mind you it was my first ever experience with the duke, so I was probably just not used to it. It is also a fair bit darker than a Kookaburra, but that didn't affect anything.

all this talk of dew, but we happily play ODI's in the UK on a day night basis.

I'd prefer a more extensive 4 day trial first. Maybe a round of matches or all matches played for a month, to better understand the problems. Might actually make cricket more interesting if the ball zipped around a bit. In a way, going back to an uncovered wicket.

Ticket prices are a big thing I can't see why some grounds (the ones with poor attendance) don't lower the prices as even after the gate fee food prices etc are quite high surely more people at a lower price is better than less people at a higher price

I guess that they have difficulty with ticket prices as they have to meet the amount of money that they bid to the ECB, and in most cases, they will look to achieve that from day 1-3 pre-sales. They then won't lower prices as people will complain who have already bought tickets!

Buzz, why not give all test matches to Lords and toss out the Taffy's from the ECB and then jump into bed with the BCCI ?

Just think of all that money !!!

What you are saying has absolutely no relevence to my post (or this thread).
The Welsh paid £2,000,000 to host the test match and the ECB said thanks for the cash - and then are laughing when the Taffy's lose £1,500,000 on the game because it isn't their problem. The same for the Edgbaston tests last year.
Obviously having 7 tests at Lords is a stupid comment.

But seeing as you have an issue with the MCC, let's not forget that the MCC (members) put up the cash to pay for the Pakistan vs Aus series last year and lost a seven figure sum - but were it not for the issues with the Pakistan board would willingly have done it again.

What has this got to do with the BCCI? Other than they are both in it for the cash rather than the good of the game.
