Worst decision ever
« on: June 07, 2011, 01:06:30 PM »

We had a game on Saturday in our 2nd XI, and we turn up and see they the umpire with a certain reputation is umpiring.
2 shocking LBW's in the first innings when we were bowling, we were shocked when they were given.

Then when I came it 5 it was around 5:20, I got to 9 and was batting against the opening bowlers to guard on middle about 8 inches outside the crease. Tracked the bowler by a yard or two and hits the outside off my pad just by my calf going down legside

And I got triggered. I was amazed! No way I was out.
4 LBW's including mine got given inside 20 minutes all dubiously because the umpire has a reputation of wanting to finish games by
6 no matter what.
To annoy me even more I spoke to the bowler who got me out at fine leg, he said there's no way I was out.

Has anyone else had an umpire like this?

Yep and he was on our team, we were playing away and he wanted to get back to the club early and proceeded to give anyone out at the first opportunity

I have had a couple of shockers this year when I was set (once on 25 the other on 51), middled both onto my pad and was given. It is becoming more apparent that the better the player, and the greater the reputation of the club, the more likely they are to be given not out. We had a ex West Indian test player plumb 2 times on Saturday on about 15 and 95.

It's a shame because it spoils the game, the only thing I try to do now is not let it hit my pad!

Where do I begin

One other year against our skipper he backed away to leg you could see all 3 stumps to a right arm over bowler hit him on the pad OUT then he gave me after I hit it and gave a few more then was heard to say in the oppo changing room "I got you a few more points today lads " after a few more of these games he was banned for a year and by all reports is still doing the same

Last year got hit on top of pad in front foot batting out my crease (I'm 6ft4) and was given before anyone appealed

This year took 3 steps down track got hit on knee roll ump waited till I was down other end then raised finger

But I'm not bitter

I got an LBW where I got hit 2 inches to the right of my box. Then next ball he gave our number 3 lbw halfway down the pitch.

One of the worst trigger fingers I've ever seen. But somehow he managed to restrain himself when his team were batting...

Had a shocker in the 20 over cup final a couple of seasons ago.

I dropped the ball and set off for a single running away from the direction the throw was going to come.  The resulting attempt to run me out (which I could not see as it was coming from behind me) hit me in the hand, at which point some numpty appealed.  The umpires got together and gave me out for obstructing the field!!!  Couldnt believe it had happened, let alone the fact that the opposition captain upheld the appeal...

At least we won the game so it was not the end of the world, but just annoyed me that they thought I was cheating!!

Get them week in week out in our league.

I had a shocker last year where i was facing a left arm around the wicket spinner. Given LBW when going to drive outside off stump. Umpire told me the ball was going to hit after it turned, although it hit me outside the line and pitched outside. (((SIGHS)))
But,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I know we all moan about umpiresm, but i wouldnt give up my Saturday to do it.

Batsmen always get given out to poor decisions by the umpires.

Bowlers never get wickets due to poor decisions by the umpires.
