Could be down to the universal pressing they get on each bat? Rather than doing each one differently ???

Very possibly, although I don't really see how pressing would affect pick up! That part of the Flare equation is just pants, and given the weight distribution, it's not clear why. Seriously reminds me of the Cannons of yesteryear!

I've got a Flare DXM 505 that I bought in a local sports shop after having a casual waft. After trying out a lot of bats with higher middles, I couldn't believe how good it felt for £80!

It's 2.10 on the scales, has a decent large profile and really does ping. The sound it makes really is fantastic and it pisses all over a lot of more expensive bats I've owned.

It's not a great looker with 7 quite wavy grains and what is the bleached colour all about, but I'm all about the performance and once i'd tapped it up with a mallet the debit card was out in a flash!

Maybe I got lucky?

Maybe. I think we've seen a variety of quality in the mid to upper range of GMs.
