Went to Stainlands CC tonight for the Speed Gun. Made us bowl uphill and I clocked 56 & 57mph, my first ball being the first one to hit the stumps. The elusive 60 mph barrier might of been broken with a downhill run :-(

Dan Parker?! Really? I faced a few years back and didn't think he was that quick.

Guy from Illingworth CC did 74mph tonight. I don't know if it was me but he didn't seem that quick, or the other lads around 65-70mph tonight. Could've been the slow deck but would've been happy facing any of them tonight. A few guys bowling similar pace last year at Outlane CC, seemed pretty sharp in comparison.

Am i right in saying that the speed of the ball is clocked in mid air, not when it pitches? just asking this as the ball will lose speed once it hits the wicket?

1 gun at the bowlers end pointed at off stump. Bowl full at off stick. Bowling short will take pace of the delivery when it passes off stump.

My first delivery hit leg stump on a good length and was clocked at 56mph. My second delivery flew past off stump on the full and was clocked at 57mph. My mate dragged one down to short of a length and it clocked 36mph, his second on a full length 57mph.
