Yh ideally I would have been and in fact I was about that to someone bowling the same pace yesterday, it was just the fact the pitch was really low and slow and wouldn't have carried that far, I thought it was better to stand where I was semi-comfortable and try and take it on the full rather than let it roll along the ground, a week later though I'm regretting it cause my hands in a bit of a state

well, had the opposite last night - kept on a very quick, very bouncy astroturf wicket. was really difficult! at one point i was nearly decapitated by a bouncer when standing up to one of our medium pace 13 year olds.

also found that i have a tendency to rise with the batsman's backlift, which is really really bad. how can i get away from that?

Just keep watching the ball mate. Repeat 'watch the ball' over and over and don't take your eyes off it. Sounds simple but that's honestly the best thing to do. Ignore whatever the bat is doing. If you see him advancing, don't change anything, your instinct will whip the bails off, just focus on the red thing ;)

I am slightly confused - one min you are taking glorious legside stumpings, the next your bowlers are bowling an imaculate off-stump line...
 :o  ??? !!

i used the word USUALLY
lol

also i some times ask for a leg side ball if they are slightly off blance etc :D

i'd love to watch simmy keep.

our team's former keeper (suspended after a row over subs) was absolutely brilliant, unbelieveable hands. i only wish I could be that good.
