I've heard around £20k for a big name pro, plus extras (car, house, travel expenses etc...)

I think you can get a decent sub-continent pro for around £5k, and then there are clubs who pay a UK resident - I've heard different figures - £100-£200 a match.

Not so sure about 'Shamateurs'. I have a friend who plays Bradford League who gets "Travelling Expenses" - he gets about £70 a match.

We pay our overseas -£66 a week. £60 rent, and £6 match fee! He works down the pub, but he's still smashed 350 league runs so far this year lol

wrenthorpe paid craig white £300 quid a game a few years ago i think.

i know people that are on performance money.

my Mate matty jordan is playing for wakefield thorns in central yorkshire league. he turned birstal down on £2 a run.

so they must be paying him a fair wack.

Ive got big respect for a lad that some times guests with us on a tuesday in the 20/20

he was offered 3k to play at townvile in the central yorkshire league.

Turned it down to play for castleford cc in the Yorkshire ECB prem for no money! hes only 20.

was talking to him other night he says if u score 1000 runs a season after a few years clubs will be offering best part of 5k for a decent opener

Dental cover is something which I am hoping to have alongside Urdu lessons ;)

Johnny Firefly might be able to suss out these players I'm talking about but here goes:

Big name Pro who is playing in the NPCL is on £15k including a house for his wife and kid as well as a car.

The same team have a new opening bat who plays minor counties who is paid £150 a week.

We have a strict rule whereby we don't pay any amateurs. If there were cash prizes dependant upon league positions then I'm sure that could change, but I can't see what other teams are achieving besides a higher league position, but for what cost?

Any ideas what your "Pro" gets Tom?

CORRECT!

Just less than a third of that I think. Unsure to whether he will playing as a pro next year though. Recently married, new job etc. To play as an amateur I think. As a pro he has to be at junior practice on a Monday, senior practice on a Tuesday, take the juniors to their games on a Wednesday and then play sometimes Friday, Saturday & Sunday! Think he wants a bit less!

Heard about the Craig White one. Didn't he not bowl and get a duck in one match lol!

Know a fair number of players down south who played Minor Counties and never got a penny, just wanted to play for their clubs. Think paying players is far more common in the north from what I've seen.

£2 a run seems good but what's the point of paying a guy for 18 runs (£36) and getting stuffed! I think playing in the ECB Premier Leagues will be the way most serious cricketers will go.

Couple of years ago I was offered £30 a game, £1 per run and £10 per wicket by a local team. This season was offered £4k to go and play for another team. Shame I'm over the hill now and have lots of other commitments !!. Wish it had happened 15 years ago !!!

Ha, 2 teams fairly local to me. 1 in the division that you play in Ian.

When I played in WEPL prem 1 there was a team who's annual wage bill was rumoured to be £36K !! with one player getting £18K !!

Some good money to be made in club cricket now.

I'm trying to negotiate a financial package with Preston CC as I've heard they need a new keeper.

Looking for travel expenses plus a bonus package ;)

Thomas,

Firstly LV rates you highly- I spoke about you to him on Saturday. Fancy bringing along another of your disgruntled team mates? I'll be working hard on RDF when he returns from his overseas sabbatical. Also we'll be trying to build on this years team with a quality Kiwi as pro for next year.

As for the Urdu lessons, why not just add Zee TV to your Sky Sports package  ;)
