Surprise appearances
« on: July 11, 2011, 09:37:25 PM »

Have you ever gone to a game and then faced someone famous unexpectedly?

Two stick out in my mind. One was turning up to a game and playing against Aleem Dar. Who smashed us all over the place and then took 3 wickets for good measure. Happened twice, for two different teams. Another was Mohammed Asif around 2007/2008 I believe. A one off appearance for a local side, ironically one of the same sides as Aleem played for. Crazy really considering this isn't a high standard of cricket at all.

Not a game, but last years end of season dinner in a local curry house had an unexpected guest in the shape of Courtney Walsh. The waiters were awestruck and they brought the kitchen staff out to meet him!

This was when I used to play for Goresbrook. I don't play there anymore though.
Aleem played for both Asians CC and May and Bakers CC. Mohammed played a game for May and Bakers.

Here's one of the scorecards from Aleems appearance last year. 3-17. Not too shabby,

Played Nayan Doshi a few weeks ago who played for Surrey and made 3 IPL appearances this year. Then the week after played against Alvin Kallacharan!

Have played against James Marshall (Hamish's brother) twice this season. It couldve been much worse as also registered for his club is William Porterfield and Eoin Morgan.
