MSR Bats?
« on: July 14, 2011, 09:58:52 AM »

Hi Guys,

Although I've been lurking for a while, I'm relatively new to this forum.

I have a question: As I'm sure many of you know bats of today are becoming bigger with chunkier edges and huge sweet spots.

I've recently spotted a unknown brand (to me anyway) called MSR advertising an enormous 47mm edge on ebay. The bats are 2lb 12oz minimum.

Has anyone ever used one of these bats? What is the balance like? Quality of wood? etc

I'm used to using a 2lb 8/9 or 10 at most so this would be quite a heavy bat.

I've seen alot of bats out of Asian countries recently which are just huge. Heavy but not as heavy as you'd expect from a bat so big. And yeah, they do go some!!

No doubt they won't last as long as some English bats.

I'm described by most who've seen me play as a stroke maker so I don't use huge bats. I currently use an Ishan Inferno which is not a small bat but these, if they're of decent quality I'd imagine would be a big boost to anyone's confidence.

My club's overseas, who used to be a Pakistan U19 player, brought over a selection of bats with him when he arrived.
They have huge edges and absolutely rocket...I used his mate's bat on Tuesday and everything seemed so effortless :D
They would be a great boost to your confidence but it depends on whether it's the right bat for you or not....
Hope that helps...

From what we've seen of these on here previously, they tend to be a bit variable. Some are real guns and some suck. it just depends on luck. Up to you really. You pays your money and prays...
