The complaint goes to the league secretary and the league then decides on the severity of what took place and the action to take.

Worst case is expelling the player from the league, section 5.2.6.

Well I saw a form filled out by the umpire with my name on it and at the top it said ECB Disciplinary Report... apparently when I got stumped on 99 against Enfield I am supposed to have turned to their wicket keeper (first team captain) and cussed his parents, which is a complete fabrication by the umpire.

Hmm thanks Tim, pretty sure it will just be noted then and nothing will come of it. Still annoying though as the said offence didn't actually occur!

Think a similar thing happened to my step brother in a county game last year. Was accused of swearing at one of the batsmen. Nothing came of it

Couple of our 1st team were banned for 2 games at the end of last season for back chat to an umpire. Think it goes to the league who impose a punishment as already mentioned

Will the league include you in the report? Get your side of it?

Could you beat the umpire to the league with a letter explaining the situation?

They were appointed league umpires in the game i mentioned, id have thought there isnt much a teams umpire could do as surely its his word (which immediately is biased) and youd have at least the chance to explain your side of the story

I got reported last summer for asking the umpire "How's that bloody out?"

I thought it was soft considering worse things were said to the umpire by the opposition in the game.

I got a suspended sentence, but my club (in their infinite wisdom) asked me to sit out a week as a club imposed sanction.

No one else at our club (who have done/said worse things) have ever been internally suspended.

Needless to say I was not impressed

Our league are pretty inconsistent in terms of disciplinary, 3 guys all got banned in one game a few weeks ago, yet there have been a few incidents since then where the umpires have turned a blind eye...

Some bowler gave me a nasty send-off for no reason whatsoever a month or so back, so I returned the favour when he was out, plenty of harsh words involved! And neither of us even got a telling off from the umpires...

I'd write to the league ASAP Leo and state that you didnt say anything, but apologise if you caused any offence to the opposition or umpires. Should be off the hook if you put that.......

Hmm hopefully nothing will happen, I merely gave as good as i got from him, but never were any of my sledges personal or insulting all were based around cricket.

I would not worry about it if they do say anything just mention the meetings the ECB have attended with the government minister Jeremy Hunt and Rebecca Brooks formerly of news international and other news international executives regarding ECB funding and miss use  of sport England money or better still tell them you are south African and a promising cricket player and you will get picked to play for England against the Indians over any home grown English talent lol!!!!
