Glad I spent all day watching, what a fantastic days Test cricket!! Broad showed his quality and looks a genuine allrounder at times. I still think that the Indians would rather face him than big Tremlett.
Dravids century was something special and 2 in 2 shows that English conditions do not bother him. VVS is still the most elegant batsman in the world as ive felt for years, what an innings.

Cook seems to be struggling - 12, 1, 2, 5. Should turn it around though.

Very unsporting appealing for that.

Would have kicked right off if someone did that in one of our matches

Definately
Quote
Law 23. (b) The ball shall be considered to be dead when it is clear to the bowler’s end umpire that the fielding side and both batsmen at the wicket have ceased to regard it as in play.

Is that right?

Presumably they had time to see the replays and realise it was unsporting to appeal.

Nope.

More like management told them that it would be a stain that would be talked about for years.

Dean Jones was run out in worse circumstances in the West Indies in 1991. He was bowled off a no ball, but didn't hear/see the umpires extended arm, so he tucked his bat under his arm and started taking his gloves off...when a Windies player ran in and ripped out a stump while holding the ball. The WIndies all leapt as one appealing for a run out...andd Jones was given run out!

Cheats.

Don't any of you be under the impression that this is a 'great sporting gesture by Dhoni, it was a ***** trick to do it in the first place.

Indeed. Would have resulted in a mass brawl at the level most of us play at though. I think we've all had opportunity to do something similar, most of us have the decency to realise it isn't really on before 10,000 spectators point it out to us though.

Yes mate I couldn't agree more. There (as bumble has said) Is a fine line between the letter of the law and the spirit if cricket. Heat of the moment, its an understandable decision from dhoni, but the right one come to in the end. cricket is indeed the winner lol  :D

I agree, not so much doing it as saying no when the umpires asked if he wanted to withdraw the appeal. Same goes for Collingwood against NZ a few years ago.
