After this topic: http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=12286.0 I taped down the scuff sheet, but water was still getting in.

I decided to cut away the un-stuck scuff sheet and have a look tonight. There is a really dark patch of wood in a half moon shape. (the other dark stuff is the scuff sheet glue).

The patch of wood is really soft and I can did my finger nails in and make quite big marks

What should I do?

Send it off to be refurbed!! but if that is not possible.

sand... oil... add a thin layer of beeswax, then cover it again...

May i ask if you have a toe-guard? if not, apply one.

also try to let it dry naturally for a few days if u can..

i had this with one of my old warsop venoms bats still performed however there was no getting rid of the darkness and the bat started to swell, i simply sanded excessively oiled scuff sheet and taped, not the most aesthetically pleasing but it shouldnt effect the bat that much

Refurb isn't really an option, it's my match bat and the only one I have

refurbing the bat will not get rid of the dark patch mate

it is wood rot simple as that best thing to do is apply a varnish beexwax will only give it a coat and beeswax does not give it a long standing protection

it should not get any worst it just something you have to live with

refurbing will make it lighter but there no cure
