Michael Vaughan
« on: May 17, 2008, 08:53:22 AM »

Michael Vaughan at this moment in time is my favourite player. This may seem quite wierd consdiering to some people considering he had run scroing abilities more akin to Steve Harmison at the moment, but I still admire the elegance in his shots. For me, he optimizes the classical aspect of the game with those flowing cover drives and every shot that he makes for me is a joy to watch.

I've gave a little insert into what I think about Vaughan, so has anyone else got any opinions of Vaughan that you'd like to add?

Vaughny does play some very elegant shots yeah and i enjoy them, but i think he is way too inconsistent in ODI arena.

The problem that he seems to have in the ODI format is that he tries to hit the ball to hard. Its a shame that he couldn't transfer his test form into the ODI stuff consistantly and I doubt that he'll ever get antoher chance at ODI level.

When he plays well I think he is the best player in the world for young cricketers to watch. His drives are perfect. But on a bad day he can be very frustrating. Not a bad bowler either.

agree with your points Danny. on a bad day, he's the ideal tutor to show kids how to nick off to first slip and the keeper  ;D

his bowling is a good stop gap measure. imo he should have bowled more in ODI's as when he did bowl, he bowled pretty tidily iirc?

He is probably the best england batsmen to see on form imo. Just can be inconsistent and is not a odi player.

I'd Take Away The Captaincy.
Let Me Just Say That Not Because His Captaincy Is Poor - Anything But.
But I Belive That If He Were To Relinquish The Captaincy It Would Rejuvenate His Batting Form.
And Also Tie In Nicely With The "New" England.

Nice ton today, look forward to seeing it on Channel 5 later. He had a lot to prove, and boy did he pull it off.

A good indication if Vaughn is going to score runs is if his pulls and cover drives work perfectly if not  you feel he wont get runs.

Classic innings, strong on the legside and saw some great coverdrives come out too.

An even better innings because of the lack of form he had. He started off very tentatively, put played himself back into form very nicely.
