Morrants Pads or SS Pads
« on: August 03, 2011, 09:36:23 PM »

I know this is usually a longshot but im after a pair of Morrant Ultralite Internationals in great condition.
Alternatively would be interested in a set of SS Test Opener with matching batting gloves lightly used or new..

Rather than contact Online Stockist I thought id aske here first.
If anyone hates their Morrants ;) then please PM me or if you have the SS in a set im all ears.
Many thanks fellas.

Hi PM7,

I have a pair of the Morrant Ultralite International pads, and although I'm definitely not looking to sell them I think they're easily the best pads I've ever worn. They are sooo light and have a great feel, but because they are shaped in a specific way I'd definitely try some out before I bought them as they aren't to everyone's taste.

Once you like them you won't want to use anything else!

Thanks James, i dont have the luxury of trying them on as I live and play in Spain so have to take a punt hence why im looking for slightly used ones. SS is a great option too.

I didn't think SS test opener were a moulded pad? I thought they were quite a traditional, cane pad? I'm visiting an SS stockist today so will price it up for you. Is it any particular pair of gloves you want?

No worries. The reason I say it is the top part of the pad angles back in towards your thigh a bit more than normal pads, so it kind of feels like they're always pressing against it. It may be that I've just got big thighs!

Apart from that it almost feels like I'm not wearing them due to the weight and fit.

I've not tried the SS ones so can't comment, but an opener at our club has a pair of VSports moulded lightweights which are very similar, maybe you could also look out for a pair of them?

Im leaning more towards a set of SS Test Openers, there were a few people selling them I remember, used a couple of times at a decent price.

Is it a safe bet to buy the SS Test Opener Pads and Gloves from Online Stockist?
The website seems down and if anyone has been buying from them your thoughts are welcome.
Their prices seem great for SS gear amongst others.

My opening batting partner wears Morrant ones. they're incredibly light. but a shame they're not shaped like conventional pads.

Ive decided against Morrants as being 5.10 they do sit high up on my thighs.
Now keen on the SS Test Opener Pads and Super Test Gloves although the SS Matrix look an option.
Does anyone use these pads as id welcome your opinion, thanks.

Thanks for the advice, Ive bought the set as above from Ebay as it seems a good deal and they do seem to wrap around well having seen a mates set so lets hope they are what I expect them to be.

Im in Finland at the moment and the pads are in Spain so will let you know when im back next weekend.
In pretty sure they will be what I want as im NOT looking for bulky, heavy 7 cane insert and the rest with uber protection.
