I seem to remember a particular dislike towards Tendulkar. Something to do with an unpaid import tax bill.

Adidas do not make cricket bats , in fact Adidas make zero products.
Pretty sure with the amount of money on the table pretty much everyone would.

what a good thread this is. for most club players a £325.00 custom made bat form m and h tailsman,redback or whoever is the current fav won't make the slightest bit difference to whether you score runs or don't, it's totally in the mind.It might make you feel like a Pro but won't make you play like one-the only way to improve is to practice as has been said.I have finally stopped changing my bat if i dont do well and got back in the nets.
If you have even watched a pro in the nets they middle the ball virtually every shot,they all have qulity bats,but they practice over and over again.
Tendulkar is a genius, he also works on his game ever day

It never went unpaid , FIAT coughed up the bill to the Indians.

back on topic , batsmen will always lay blame when they cannot buy a run so it is very rarely the bat.

I find that having a good bat gives me some confidence. When I walk out with my M & H I know I can easily clear that guy at long off-whereas if I had a Kashmir I would very much doubt it.

I'm quite sure a good bat is a good bat-it let's you hit the ball further, with more control or harder. Obviously there is a certain barrier between marketing and actual performance increase, but it definitely counts to have a good bat. Did I mention you look good?

Reopening my old thread a bit, got a couple of nice new bats (still haven't spent more than £200 on a bat though) and picked up a number of older ebay pieces. Some of these vintage bats (and I might iterate, only some) seem to still be in good nick and look to have plenty of willow for their weight, so it will be interesting to take them into a net session and find out how they compare against newer lumps of wood.

The ones that seem to have retained their "ping" are a Dynadrive, a Slaz V500, an SS Turbo Supreme (non-laminated), the GN Ultimate, GM Diamond and the Hunts County reflex. I suspect in club cricket that most of these would still be considered excellent bats and indeed, are probably used around the country in many places...

I'm still up for a T20 day, where in the first game, all batsmen must use vintage bats and retire at 25, and in the second, use modern bats, and retire at 25. I think That's be an interesting exercise!

The batmaker only makes a marginal difference-everyone knows having cool stickers gets you sixes on the pitch and drinks in the bar.

I presume the pressing makes way more difference than the 'shaper', I've used bats of vastly different shapes, but so long as their the same weight it's never really had an effect.
