My Salix Pod
« on: August 05, 2011, 09:33:30 AM »

Hi, have followed the forum for some time but this is my first post.

Purchased my Salix Pod 1 a few seasons ago now and its a brilliant bat. I watched the Salix video of Andy Kember making a bat several times afterwards and realised that the bat he makes towards the end is in fact my bat. I contacted Salix and they sent some stills for me to compare it to. I've attached some of these as well as some I took myself.

The bat it self is 2lb 8oz and has an amazingly light pick up even for this light weight bat. You hardly feel your holding a bat. Yet it has a great middle and the ball flies off. Scored a century with in the second time I used it and had my most successful season last year. Several team mates have borrowed it and taken it to local batmakers to get one made as close to it as they can. By far the best bat I've owned yet, brilliantly crafted and can't recommend Salix more highly.

Yes great bats. Hope It'll last a while longer yet which shouldn't be too difficult as not playing as much as I used to now I've got 2 little ones. If I can afford one next time, although managed to get it for under £200 as bought it at end of season.

Will see if I've got any more pics or will take some more and post them.

Some more pictures of my salix pod. I had in repaired and refurbished by Hawk bats as they just up the road from me. The new stickers didn't last well and kept coming off so I too some off and put the remaining ones sent by salix on. The toe swelled up after being left in the rain while we were fielding. Hawk put an insert into the toe and did a great repair job. Very friendly and some quality bats at their small showroom. They showed me round and talked through how they make their bats and choosing your cleft. Very impressed and will seriously consider their bats when this one finally dies.
