Hampshire after James Foster
« on: August 08, 2011, 02:57:22 PM »

As a Royals fan, I am absolutley buzzing at this news. Fozzie is a bit of a role model when it comes to my keeping, and would love to see him play for us as Pothas won't be about for much longer.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2011/content/current/story/526525.html

Can sort of understand this move as well, as Pothas is out for a while according to rumours down south

Massive loss for us if he went. One of the best keepers around.

Totally mate, Pothas is a brilliant keeper, probably second to Foster on the county circuit so we would need someone like him to come in

He's also a bit of a geezer, which I really like

He's a top top keeper, read an old segment from Wisden Cricketer (Nov/Oct 2010) on keeping from him and it was all sage advice.
Hampshire's gain definitely if they sign him - big loss for Essex.

Was watching him in a t20 the other week, took that 85mph full toss stood up that went past leg stump though the batsmen. F*cking unreal

Never been able to find the videos of the 2 stumpings he took for England in the T20 world cup a while back, read about them but never seen them. Anyone have a link on the off chance?

He is the best keeper on the county circuit, no question about it! Although the young hampshire keeper bates was pretty impressive last night..

Watched him standing up to Graham napier bowling 85mph+ yorkers a few weeks ago in a CB40 game, he was taking them with ease!

Disrespectful if he leaves considering he's halfway through his benefit year. I reckon he wont leave though.

clever if you ask me.

Gets a money spinning benefit now and probably unlikely to get another at essex. When the benefit is finished he then jumps ship for a pay hike. Keepers tend to go on for ages, so every chance he'll get another at hampshire in a few years.

I'm assuming his contract is up at the end of the season? If nothing else, he'll be able to hike up his salary at essex if hampshire are sniffing around.
