Aero... The ugliest equipment ever made
« on: January 31, 2009, 11:31:33 PM »

I have been out for cricket for a while before this year, and one brand that has unfortunately come to my attention is Aero. I know everything is a matter of opinion but OH MY GOD they suck so bad... Their pads look like polysterine sellotaped round the back. U may as well order something from amazon, then use the packaging to make ur own pads... I just cannot get over how bad they are... If that is the future of cricket, I'm gonna go take up tennis, cus that stuff is UGLY.
Their bags seem ok, but they are associated with the ghastly other equipment so I would never buy one. And as for their slogan... "Better cricket performance"... I'm sorry what? Its so poorly conceived it makes me vomit.

their stuff is very good quality and does indeed provide better cricket performance, i don't think you can argue with this.  but of course the design is not to everyones taste and certaintly not to your taste it seems!

I am not a big fan of there pads or gloves but all the stuff is well made. I do like the look of the bags and I have to say i really do like my strippers.

Ah yes... the only thing I would say that appeals to me is the strippers... They look like they provide comprehensive protection! I may invest in some actually... fortunately you wear them underneath clothing

Bucko, did the toys come out the pram when they started putting coloured labels on bats?

You cannot stop progress and think of how different todays pads are from 10 years ago, the Aero will be common in 10 more years.

Seems you have made a judgement primarily on looks alone, not sure how you can condemn the 'better cricket performance' slogan simply from a aesthetical viewpoint. Yes it is very different but as previously stated most of todays equipment is vastly different from years gone by, all the Aero equipment is the product of extensive research and development, and the benefits are there. I've tried all the equipment, and although not to my tastes it is very good, there are a few minor issues but one thing Aero take very seriously is customer feedback whether it be from your average cricketer or first class and international cricketers, they take it on board and go back to the drawing board and try to improve there products, I'd say with Aero it's a simple case of don't judge a book by its cover.

As you may have seen in another thread I own a pair of Aero pads.
I can not fault them in terms of protection or weight, which I suppose are the primary aspects they pride themselves upon.
However, I had a slight problem in my stance with the gloves catching on the pad, it is for this reason alone, I "might" sell them.

Didn't say they were, but I think you'll find every company has to start somewhere.
And don't even try saying Adidas have started with Bell and Pietersen... they have money from other area's.
And look what happened to Woodworm when they tried signing huge players straight away.
Give it time and Aero will grow. They already have a reputation across forums etc

I think your letting your mouth run away with you, please explain to me how they are a gimmick? Firstly have you used them? Secondly they are used at first class and international level, they comfortably withstand those speeds and if you have tried the pads there is no doubting they are one of the lightest pads around, so surely if they offer top class protection at a fraction of the weight of normal pads, how is that a gimmick? With regard to signings, do you realise how hard it is for small companies to get there products out there and being used by the best? Think about it logically, top players attract bigger brands, smaller brands just can't compete. Aero have done well, the pads are used widely on the New Zealand domestic circuit and they have secured some international contracts all be it bowlers, anyway tail enders are much more likely to be peppered with the ball, thus highlighting the protection qualities.
