Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Stokes moved to Workington in Cumbria with his folks when he was 5 or 6 - as his dad signed as a rugby league professional with Workington.  He's a big lad, could have played rugby too apparently, and talks with a distinct Cumbrian accent.

Be good to see both him and Scott Borthwick given a shot.

How can you say that Bopara and Patel are 'non English'?  Bopara was born in Forest Gate, Newham, and Patel was born in Leicester.

as for the article the irish should ditch the chip on their shoulders.

if they really have an issue with the team Eng send over they should do their talking on the pitch.

if they loose then unlucky. the team going over to Ireland looks pretty strong to me.

2 topics with identical titles both discussing the same match, merging them was a good idea. I think the better question James is why did you go to this section, see a topic already called Ireland vs England and yet still post a new topic with the same name discussing something that is relevant to this topic?

The thing is, until Cricket Ireland step up and sort out some sort of first class competition then they aren't going to elevate above associate membership.  Only needs 6 or 7 of the counties to take off, and would massively aid in the development of players.  Would also likely  lessen the losses of players to other sports as mentioned in that article.

Complaining about the likes of Joyce, Morgan and Boyd playing for England is pointless.  That is a choice made by the player and allowed under an ICC ruling.
