Defensive -

Leg side - deep square, long on, midwicket, 45 on the one
Off Side - long off, sweeper, extra cover, point, backward point

Attacking -

Legside - deep square, 45 on the one, wide mid on
Offside - mid off, slip, gully, point, extra cover

if the ball isn't turning much or the track slow - replace the slip with a short extra cover and move extra cover to cover or move to midwicket.

Alot depends on the pace of wicket, amount of turn, bounce and line bowled.

I reckon a lot depends on the standard you play at and if the leggie actually turns it.

Personally I think a lot of batsmen have a sort of paranoia about spinners and tend not to play the ball on it merits and instead try to play the ball as if its spinning.

If the leggy does turn it then I'd leave a big gap at cow and no long on at first to encourage them to play cross line and have someone on the 45 on off side and at backward point to wait for any mishits.

One other thing that I always try to do is look at the batsmans stance, grip and their first few balls as that can often tell you quite a lot about how they bat and let you set your field accordingly.

Some games this year we've played against guys with really wide stances so more likely to play off front foot or a few with obviously incorrect grips on the bat that mean they'll never get power into their shots.

I have never played a game where a leggie doesn't have a deep mid wicket/cow corner fielder

Also depends what deliveries you bowl. If you bowl a googly you'd want to consider a short leg, leg gully maybe.

Completely depends on how good they are.... if they are bowling long hops, full bungers etc it doesn't really matter where you put the fielders they are going to go for plenty.

If they are decent, sweeper squarish on the off side, deep backward square, cow. Depending on the batter long off/on.

I start with mid on/off on the 1, deep cover, cover point, gully, slip, 45, square leg, mid-wicket.
