Looking for thoughts on whether to use wax or oil on my bats as I have just sanded them down and the search function is disabled

I would say oil because it soaks in while wax doesn't plus wax makes bat darker.

Did it with my Oblivion and it is all dary now :facepalm:

depends which wax you use there cover matey

briwax does not make the bat darker in my opinion but the blade or back or both need to be proberly done

Infact Oil is the devil well in my eyes (waterboy style)

I prefer the Salix wax on the basis that when I refurb a bat I've just bought (which is always the case) I like to apply a little wax and often after sanding back and in between knocking in sessions. I don't share the comment that wax doesn't soak in as you can feel any excess left on the bat surface. I always leave it horizontal and find it does soak in between 24-48 hours. I try to avoid over-waxing this way too.

It works for me although I do agree that it darkens the willow, which I don't really mind as i always cover with a Hammer Edge Sheet.. personal preferences I guess...

I've only ever oiled my bat and never had any issues with it. Though my Dad did use wax on his SS Jumbo from time to time after sanding, and it is quiet a dark willow - though that might be due to it's age, he stopped playing at 30 and that's 25 years ago...

Have to say that oil also darkens the willow if you don't sand at the end of the season.

Its the Salix Bat Wax. Don't think it is Briwax...:S

Went with oil in the end to play safe and have put a single coat on just awaiting the extras now to finish them off
