Fit-again Harbhajan raring for return
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:56:38 PM »

Without wanting to be too sceptical... how much is Harbhajan going to earn potentially at the "Champions league" - hence his sudden return to full fitness and form after looking unfit and overweight in England during the summer?

just asking...

http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/current/story/531591.html
Harbhajan Singh, the India offspinner, has recovered from the abdominal strain that kept him out of the second half of the England tour and will play for Mumbai Indians in the Champions League T20 later this month. Harbhajan flew home in early August and underwent rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

"I am 100% fit and raring to go for all the cricket ahead," he told the Indian newspaper Mid-Day. "I have worked really hard at the NCA. I am looking forward to the Champions League T20, and also the coming home series (against England and West Indies)."

In the absence of the injured Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan was the senior bowler in the Indian attack on the recent tours of West Indies and England. He wasn't effective, though, managing only 13 wickets at 43.53 in five Tests before he was injured. "Obviously, the injury came at the wrong time. But, I don't think about the timing - it's always bad - whether it was in a home series or away series. An injury is an injury. There was lot of sadness to come back home soon."

Despite facing criticism over his form, Harbhajan remained upbeat, and predicted a return to his best. "I have never felt this good about my bowling. This is going to be a rebirth of sorts for me. I am going to get my rhythm back. "

Harbhajan has already been on the international circuit for more than 13 years, but said his career wasn't close to coming to an end. "I am honest to myself and know that I have a lot more to contribute for the country. This is a new beginning. I still have four or five years of cricket left in me."

Harbhajan's recovery will come as a relief to Mumbai, who are already contemplating a Champions League campaign without their biggest star, Sachin Tendulkar, who is nursing a toe injury.

Too right! Anyone see the comments made to Agnew and Vaughan recently? Truely awful.

It is amazing how quickly they seem to recover when money is involved.

If he is fit, why is he not here playing in the ODI series?

I love posting cricinfo comments, especially during this series. Constructive truthful stuff but just watch the Indian fanboys go. Dhoni this Dhoni that. You can only play in England, oh and NZ because of similar conditions, oh I suppose Aus, ok SA and Bangladesh, but not India. Ask them about India overseas and the usual, but so and so wasn't fit and IPL is where it's at. I post something to wind them up and never return to read the replies  :D

I have never rated him. I think the best indian spinner is either Ojha or Murali Kartik.
Best offie is Swannie followed by Ajmal. . .

I dont think ive ever read a thread of comments on cricinfo without getting past comment 3 without some kind of india fanboy going on like you mentioned.

I think there is a general internet comment phenomenon which makes people lose all common sense and decency when posting to online comments. YouTube and The Sun website are my favourites

biggest problem with Cricinfo is it caters mainly to the asian market because of the monies involved. You'll get loads of articles on asian matches and personalities then just 2 pages on the ashes test matches.

Probably about time a new cricket website was setup, Cricinfo is rare in modern online sport as it has very few geniune competitors.

I think the magazines (AOC, The Cricketer) are trying with their websites but think they'll struggle to grab much of the market share due to the amount of coverage cricinfo can afford

I think you'll find that very few professional sportsman are ever really 100% fit!
There will always be a niggle when they are training all the time. But most sportsmen just get on with it!  ;)

That is why Sports is used before Men :)  The last Indian I watched committed was Kapil Dev and that was when he was crying whilst denying alligations of match fixing.
