Reasonably Priced Traditional look pads
« on: September 10, 2011, 04:41:25 PM »

I’m looking to renew my equipment next season so thought I’d get some ideas from you guys about protective equipment you’ve found comfortable/ functional.

For me, as an opening batsmen who hates running between wickets anyway :D, nothing irritates me more than uncomfortable pads. That includes heavy bulky ill fitting pads.

I play at a fairly decent level so require reasonable protection but don’t want them to look bulky or ugly.
The well known brands seem to be reasonably priced but are the manufacturers are starting to make the pads look real fugly! The not so common brands look a lot nicer but are very pricey.

I like traditional cane type look with decent wrap around.

Any suggestions?

Not sure if it is reasonable for you but Gray Nicolls Legend pads, amazing pads!

Thanks, just did a quick search and they're coming up at around £90... too much for me I'm afraid. i like to try and change my equipment quite regularly so spending that much each time... well it ain't happening.

SS Gladiator are also good, cheap than Legends and very good pads as well.

SS pads are under consideration at the moment.

Any other suggestions?

I quite like the look of the SS gladiators, have you got the gloves too? Just wondering if they're any good.
