I suspect they don't chase professional endorsements because they are lovely bats, and the only pros I have ever seen use them have been Billy Godleman and a Kiwi fella whose name escapes me.

Why would that be the case? Isn't it basically a dream for each brand to have its name out there and pro using there bats etc?

Maybe, but you also need to balance production capacity with demand, and I suspect that the demand is there already at a premium price. If you are in that position, who needs additional advertising or sponsorship cost?

Not entirely; yes, I'm sure that Salix, any brand in fact, would be happy for a well exposed pro to want to use their gear, but that profile of player is usually paid a retainer by their gear sponsor - these range from Woodworm paying Flintoff and Pietersen into six figures down to solid county batsmen who get maybe 2-5k per annum (one who is an old school friend and averages nearly 45 in first class cricket makes just over 8k a year from a leading UK supplier).  If Salix are selling everything they can produce - and they seem to be doing a pretty bang up job of that - and don't wish to develop outward then why would they give away hundreds of pounds of product and pay for the priviledge?

Salix also used to sponsor Sam Northeast at Kent until he moved to Slazenger. He had been with them since he was 9 i think

Yep - Sam NE was with them for absolute donkeys years!
And it would boil down to money in the end! I agree that Salix do sell all their bats every year - the likes of the Praestantia has been around and used to always be their top seller! I'm sure that Sam NE was always supplied with lovely bats and softs...but I'm also sure that Slaz came along and said, "Hi Sam, here is £x if you'd used our gear!" and the deal is done! Can't blame Sam, as we all have a living to make!!
But Salix have been clever to ensure that they sell all they make and are not trying to grow too quickly. Keep the quality and the base of buyers! I think that's a decent policy to have rather than try to expand at the cost of losing some quality?

As much as I like those Salix bats, I can't help thinking the grips are on the wrong way up. I know this has been mentioned a few times before, on other threads but it is worth saying again.

Pete - did you raise this with the guys? or perhaps Ben or Dan could answer that question...

I didn't raise that question! I think that if I go next year, I'll need to get lots of questions together and interview (or grill) the brands!  ;)
To be fair, sometimes they look a little uncomfortable with me doing my David Bailey impression with the camera....so wouldn't want to push my luck by asking why they have stuck their grips on upside down!  :(

ive got a couple of the new(now old!) Salix bats with those grips. They do look wrong but are perfect to bat with.
I now however see from the pics my gear is out-of-date already from 2011!!!

I been down there a few times I don't get the impression they are bothered about exposure on TV,they seem to be doing pretty well, and they are quality.

Nice pictures well done...
