Yep he is. Although everyone bar KP has scored runs so far so the pitch/bowlers are proabably on the easy side.

Also, Buttler doesn't get a chance to show what he can do with the bat again! I know he can't be selected for then ODI's, just training with them and then playing the T20's but still!

As I was writing that, Trott got out and they sent Patel in. I actually really dislike Patel.

Samit's class mate, absolutely class. Between him, Read and Hales, they've scored the bulk of our runs over the past 2/3 seasons, overseas players notwithstanding!

If you look at the side played today, everyone of them is decent with the bat!
Bat right down to 11

Can't understand Jos batting at 8. Maybe he's there for the experience?

What a knock from Bairstow - 8 x 6's!!!

Prob as they know he's not going to play in the series unless there are injuries so they're batting patel and likes ahead of him to get some time in the middle.

Well yeah, i understand that. But in the T20s matches they have played him in he has been pushed down the order and batting below Patel.

i dont rate patel at all, would much rather see butler in the side. Felt sorry for him in the 20/20s should have been batting higher than patel. hes fitter, faster between the wickets and a better bat. better in the field 2.

But he's in the team for his batting yet he's not getting a knock - he's even down to 7-8 in the T20's. He normally bats at 6 for Somerset - I don't understand why he's not ahead of Patel or Meaker at all.

i guess the only positive is that he is around the set up. gets chance to learn a few things and develop.

I really rate Jos, but you've also got to think that Patel will be the 2nd spinner. He's a talented bat and bowler tbh just hasn't had much of a chance due to his fitness.

Jos' time will come, he's a class act - but for now Patel offers more, especially as he's not keeping wicket (yet).
