Changing the Branding of a bat.
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:17:05 AM »

I cant get my head around why people buy stickers that are of another manufacturers name to apply to their bat following a refurb, can you guys educate me as to why people do it so often?

Call me old fashioned but I have a Laver and have always used Newbery in the past, if any of those bats were refurbed, I would want the stickers from the those companies to be replaced like for like or at least the same manufacturer if not model.

You must have chosen your original bat maker for a reason so why jump ship?

If I were a bat maker or had bats made for me that were branded to my label, it would drive me crazy to see people re-branding my gear as someone elses!

The smaller bespoke companies need as much help and free advertising as they can get, changing the stickers to a more mainstream company just so that it looks nice is not helping their cause when a 2 year old bat that still goes like a gun has been stickered up as something else!

What do the bat makers think? Is it just accepted or do others share my frustration?

there are all sorts of possible circumstances, surely?  I mean, I have a couple of bats that are blank because the labels got damaged or because I just didn;t like the look of the labels themselves.  I might at some point in the future prefer to sticker them up, don't see that that is a massive issue?

i always use blank bats. i prefer all the weight of the bat to come from the wood instead of stickers.

I think my main reason was because I wanted to refurb it myself and didnt fancy sending my bat off and paying for pastage each way as well as thr refurb. I don't really see the difference between stickering mine as a puma as everyone knows rob makes puma bats for contracted players so its the same thing really. Although I loved the blueroom lables. Rob hasnt released the new 2011/12 lables yet but ive heard they're going to be nice or I would have got the new blueroom ones...i've also got a laver and when that needs a refurb ill be replacing the laver labels with new laver ones.

Because most bat stickers are gash lol!

The ability to resticker bats ends an owner of the tyranny if waving round a perfectly good blade that looks like it was left around in the office of the people who designed the Olympic logo :-[
