What I was trying to say was although for alot of us a 70mph is a long hop that should be put away
not you canners, you would be ducking out of the way with a girly scream on a different note - it is great when you see an international batting without a lid on, as MS is doing at the moment...
I guess it's just how we were all brought up... I was brought up being told a helmet was a sign of weakness therefore I have never worn one in my life.. Have I been hit?.. Yes... but to me that was just part of the game.. putting each others skills against one another
I've hit enough people in the head to realise that a helmet is a good idea. The worst damage I've done is splatter someone's nose, knocking them over and getting them out in the process. I've also hit people on the throat and the ear. At the time I was only about 70-75mph, but I am tall and get bounce. Having done that kind of damage to people, I'd suggest helmet wearing is a good idea!
As an opening batsman I always wear one, you never know how quick the bowlers will be untill you face them!
Haven't you realised by now that maybe you shouldn't/can't play the sweep shot... lol
