Had a great first match of the season!!

Kept wickets for most of the innings as our regular keeper was injured.  Took a neat inside edge catch off a spinner which was pleasing.  Also effected a run out towards the end of their innings.  However, they ended up scoring 243 in 35 overs and it was going to be a steep chase.

I was batting at number and had to go in in the first over as the umpire made an absolute horror of a decision and gave one of our openers (rhb) out lbw to their seamer (lfm) coming over the wicket.  The ball had clearly pitched way outside leg stump.  Anyway, I went in and played out the first over.  When my partner took strike at the other end, he smashed the ball to all corners of the park.  At the end of that over, I told him that he was going well so Id just feed him the strike.  We shared a 145-run partnership for the second wicket at almost 10 an over.  He got his 100 in the 14th over I think and got out shortly after the drinks break.  I followed in the next over....got caught in the covers off an uppish drive.  I had made only 14 off 28 deliveries and the RR was still over 9 an over.

We recovered from a middle order collapse to finally win by one wicket with one over to spare!!

Nice game scuudz :)

We played 2nd in the league, and were put in to bat. We made 102 before being bowled out. I batted at #10 and got just the 1 run, but my aim (from my captain) was just to try and fend off as many balls as I could, and don't worry about scoring. I think I faced about 18 balls.

We made a great start when fielding, getting 4 wickets in the first 6 overs! I thought we might have been able to pick up the win, but unfortunately we couldn't get another breakthrough, and we were beaten. I only bowled 1 over, didn't take any wickets, but had a catch dropped.

Nevermind, onwards to Saturday where we'll be playing top of the league! Oh joy!

Had a decent game on Sunday. Scored my 2nd ton of the season, 102 not out off 101 balls. Then had to open the bowling due to a lack of bowling resources and had figures of 10-1-18-5. We still didn't win either as the oppo showed no inclination to chase the target, and were 7 down at the end. Was blimmin sore yesterday as well!

That sounded like a great game.

I suppose - first time I've scored a ton and taken 5-fer in the same game.  Annoying that we couldn't force the win though.

scored 17 on saturday before being given out lbw to a horrendous decision which the bowler even said he was lucky to get. the umpire was our opening batsmen and he shouldn't have been umpiring as he didn't have a clue, he didn't even know where to stand, he was standing next to the stumps where the bowler was going to bowl from. on sunday i scored 17 again before hitting a full toss straight to extra cover

Played in my second match of the season.  It was a 20/20.  They batted first and scored 142.  I batted at #3 again and had to go in in the 6th over.  Got a single off the second ball I faced.  My partner got a few 4s off the edge over the slips.  Then he came down the track to their opening bowler and absolutely spanked one along the ground just wide of mid off.  Since I was backing up and he had come a long way down the track any way, it would have been an easy single.  But he didnt call at all and I probably shouldnt have moved as it was his call but I took off cos we would have both easily made it.  He was watching the fielder and by the time he called NO, it was too late.  I turned around just in time to see one stump fall to the ground due to a direct hit from mid-off.

We got a couple of good partnerships going after my wicket fell, but just couldnt keep up with the asking rate.  Our running between the wickets was awful and resulted in three run-outs.  We eventually fell about 35 runs short.

My goal of avging 20+ this season is not off to a good start with scores of 14 and 1.
