What is that loud ringing noise I can here?
« on: November 18, 2011, 12:34:35 PM »

Can I hear the final bell tolling for the great former Aussie captain?

After a 0 in the first innings against SA, do we think that Ricky Ponting has one more knock to say - I am still good enough (in the second innings) to keep playing - or is the career of one of the all time greats about to come to a tearful end?

My view is that the Aussie team have to move on...

I don't want this to be a slating Ponting thread - he has been a magnificent batsman and fielder - the second hightest all time run scorer and will be very difficult to replace - but an average under 25 for the last 18 months is not pretty.

I don't think he'll go by his own terms. I think he'll not get selected for the next series and then retire immediately as Mark Waugh did.

Still is great player thats out of nick but Pontings class could easily turn around if he plays another 5 matches
Hussey was getting hammered in the Press with calls for him to go yet what an Ashes he has had.

One mark of a truly great player is knowing when to step out of centre stage...

I really hope he doesn't get forced out. I hate the man, but love the player.

I really like Pointing as a player and I hope his big knock comes soon, I would hate to see CA drop him.
