After a very good post from Buzz, I thought that I'd start a new topic to list excuses for that 'unexpected' bat-shaped box arriving at home!
You know the scenario! You're at work and after promising the missus a week before that you would wouldn't order any more bats, you suddenly remember that you did order a bat and look at the tracking reference! To your horror you see that it has arrived that day at your house and has just been signed for by the wife!
Ooooops! No warm welcome for you when you get home!
But what excuse can you offer to get yourself back on the right side of your loved one?

1. It's a refurb I sent to the bat maker as he offered to clean it up for free
2. It was too heavy so I sent it off to get an ounce or 2 shaved off!
3. At last, the replacement bat arrived for the bat I broke in the nets
4. I see John's bat arrived! I had to order it for him and have it sent here as he doesn't have Paypal!
5. It's one of my bats which needed a re-handle as it was lose!
6. I sent 2 bats to sell 1 of them, as he couldn't decide which one to buy - this is the bat he decided not to buy!


Will leave this open for other excuses - feel free to add some as we all need some good excuses from time to time!

I ordered it before the season started and it's only just arrived as the batmaker was so busy.

For me it is my mother who I have explain.

I have used number 4 excuse few times whereas the other ones don't work for me as I'm in Canada.

So sometimes I just say I got this for very very cheap as sale was going on etc or I would say I got this from manufacture to review it lol and sometimes I have gotten stuff shipped at my friends house who would bring to practice and I would hide in my bag.

Lately I have been telling her how I wanted it sold few for it etc

I have a friend who has just taken up playing cricket and all the new kit is for him. I take it to work to pass it on to him and then bring it home a week or so later when she's out. I'm sure she'll catch on when the season starts or my garage fills up.

it's G1+++++++Canadian willow and the ship that brought it across the Atlantic sank in 2009 and it's just been salvaged from the ocean remarkably in tact but a year after I ordered it....

I order them and make sure my wife to be is at work  and I'm not sly bugger lol , would be devastated if she ever opened the cupboard under the stairs

i didnt tell my dad i got that oblivion from SD. so when i got home i said have i got any post he said no lol

went to front door and there was a note stuck in letter box

"parcel round back"

i was like right dad am off back out now

plan was to put it in car and unbox it etc and he will never know.

well got round to back of house only to find box as big as a fridge!!!!

so am trying to open this box and flat pack it with out my dad seeing etc!

result i did it! into the car it went he was none the wiser. only problem is i took paper work inside that night and left it on table and he saw it lol

all my hardwork for nothing haha

Sports Direct don't do sneaky delivery... They just pack in any box they can and you get some really odd looks... Especially when a giant box arrives at work!

I can hide it alright for a while and then if my mum sees it I say I got in on the cheap to sell on for a profit
