anybody used a grade 1 kashmir willow bat? what are your thoughts on them.
are they worth buying or would i be getting total rubbish?

I've played with quite a few. You get some really good ones. The problem normally are the handles

Yeah, if you buy a decent quality Kashmir bat (Puma, Nike, Mongoose) then they are pretty good. I've never had a problem with the handles?

yea the lower graded ones handles' are abit hit and miss, especially the indian manufacturers. They are not as bad as people make out!

May be worth igniting an old debate. Came across this article:

Given the substantial price increases in english willow bats or bats made by english batmakers (albeit expert tradesmen and women) i hope this encourages more people to take a punt on them. Whether its a nets bat or main.

Companies such as Village Cricket Co have tried to break down the barrier and open mindsets especially for village cricketers towards a kashmir willow but their price point (�97) and lack of customisation is holding them back i believe.
Has anyone tried a kashmir willow? What were your experiences and who makes the best kashmir willows?

"I worked on its promotion, development and technical advancement for the past 13 years and also got ICC approval. Last year one of our bats was able to hit the biggest six of the ICC T20 world cup in Australia. We proved to the world that there is an alternative to English willow in the form of Kashmir willow,� Kabir added.

Very interesting. SG are also making hybrid bats which have both English and Kashmir willow in the blade, not sure how they make that work but they have a few models that offer both willow types in the same blade.

It means they are making Laminate bats.

The issue with Kashmir is 90% of the time they just don't last, especially as senior level. Even at a �97 price point it's far too expensive for me when you can pick up a low grade English willow bat for sub �150. Not knocking what the guys are doing as there's definitely a market for it, but the lack of longevity with Kashmir is why I stopped selling them at the junior sizes last season. With import fees going through the roof in recent years it would've meant selling junior Kashmir bats for �75+ which just isn't good value for money for parents (I imagine even at �97 for the SH bats the margins won't be anything special).

Hybred by selling them as English willow nurtured in India also knows as Kashmir!!!
