How good are the custom batmakers?
« on: November 19, 2011, 09:11:07 PM »

In the near future I am looking to invest in a new bat as part of a minor sponsorship deal. However, I would like it to be a copy of a particular bat which I don't own anymore. Would the said bat maker be able to copy profile and edge sizes, spine height etc. from a picture. I understand edge size might be slightly difficult without knowing the scale of a picture?

Prob not 100% but a decent maker should be able to get damn close as assume they are used to that sort of thing

As roco said, in numerical figures I'd say as close as 90%

But you don't want to go to Solitaire .....

lol cover drive, that's not very nice. Doesn't have to be perfect but pretty close would be good enough.

I would suggest you going to Gary if he can do it, he is probably one of the best batmaker in UK who still make bats by hand [TK doesn't handmake bats, GN does but that is almost impossible for you and very pricey if they do, Andrew can probably do but again it will be very pricey, GM no handmaking service, maybe Robert Pack not too sure]

Bear in mind Charlie French, he custom makes bats and should be able to help you out :)

GM+ flare, doesn't matter if it's perfect. I use any shape bat when mine is broken and seem to score runs with all of them so as long as it picks up and looks similar it will be fine.

H4L are very good at copying bats, jimba101 had his GN Nitro copied into a H4L Monster and he was very positive about it! :)

Brilliant, cheers fellas. I know who I'm getting to do it, just wasn't sure whether it would be possible, and the name of the bat maker has been mentioned in the thread so should be alright.
