hit4six's Shop Visit
« on: November 30, 2011, 04:55:36 PM »

As I have 2 weeks off, I thought I would make the most of it and arrange a shop visit to see Asad. After looking on the forum to see that PeteHosk and roco had visited recently, I thought I would follow the trend and make the 110 mile trip from Bournemouth to the outskirts of Swindon. I piled into the Fiat 500, with mother, misses and girlfriends brother and we headed towards j16 of the M4. I had a few things in mind that I wanted to purchase, and after looking on the Uzi Sports website, I asked Asad if he could kindly put aside some bats for me to have a look at upon my arrival.

I arrived to the shop to be welcomed warmly by Asad, his wife, and a local legend in the Wiltshire area (I will leave Asad to explain) and he quickly showed me a CA 12000 and the Kookaburra Recoil Players bat that is pictured on the forum. After picking up these two bats, I wish I had brought more money. He then showed me to the first floor of the store, and I can only describe that second floor as cricket heaven. The area was crammed full of various equipment, bats, gloves, pads, grips, balls, clothes, helmets, shoes.... you name it really.

The bats that I had asked to be reserved were downstairs and Asad recommended to have a look round what was on offer before he showed me the bats I had put by. A couple of the plain SS bats had 20+ grains and were tempting, and along with some beautiful CA/Newbery bats, I was already spoilt for choice. Before I had the chance to knock up a few bats, Asad returned with the 2 bats which I had reserved (which ironically, were the two I purchased). I quickly unwrapped 2 GN100 bats which instantly I fell in love with, and after much deliberation, I chose one and put that to one side. The second of the two bats was is what only can be described as monsterous. The second bat was a 2012 GN Powerbow Extreme. I was slightly put off when I saw that weight of the bat was 2lb 15oz, however, the pick up on this bat is beyond believe. When compared to the 2lb 11oz GN100 I brought, there is no difference. This bat was meant to be a grade 3 GN, however, this is the advantage of Asad hand picking all the bats he purchases. In the words of Asad "I can guarantee that I would never find a better GN Powerbow Extreme" and I am not surprised in honest.

Before I asked to see more bats, I thought enough was enough and kindly handed over my bank card. At £295 for both bats and 5 grips, I cannot argue with the quality and performance of these bats.

Bat 1 Details:
Model: GN Powerbow Extreme
Weight: 2lb 15oz
Grains: 11
Edge Size: 48mm

Bat 2 Details:
Model: GN100
Weight: 2lb 11oz
Grains: 17
Edge Size: 42mm

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Asad and his wife for being most hospitable throughout the day, and I would recommend anyone who is within a few hours of the store to take a visit. The quality of the cricket equipment there is second to none. See below a few pictures, I will get some better ones tomorrow in natural light!

Looks like you have got yourself a couple of guns there!

Must say the GN Powerbow is fantastic for a grade 3! I see bats labelled as G1+ with worse grains!

Nice bats, bit of an Alanis Morrisette irony though?
