do you have any images of the bat? I guess we could all say this is a pro bat that was destined for whoever. Would any brand also tell sponsored players that this bat was ment to go here or there but you can have it instead?

my suggestion is you ignore his rediculous sales pitch and look at the bat, give it a whack with a mallet, waft it around a bit decide whether you like it and if you do agree a price with him. If not walk away.

don't choose a bat with what he says, choose it because you want it and it suits your play.

the term "pro bat" really irritates me... :o - but that is a side issue.

A mate at my club is fully sponsored by Kookaburra (Plays Australia U19's, so no surpirses there), and his bats are a much different shape to the ones off the shelf and they feel fantastic and perform bloody brilliantly, and I would easily pay more than £250. Mind you I'm in Australia, so top range bats over here would cost £350 - £500 over there.

Like Buzz said though, pick it up, have a swing with it, then tap it up. If you like it, try and work out a price you and he are comfortable with, if not then just move on. Don't buy it because it's a 'pro bat' as you will end up regretting it if it isn't suited to you.

A couple years back Carbs was using Funky bats, and re-stickering them.
This was from a very reliable source, I did see a close up of the bats one T20 game, and you could see where the funky logo print had been sanded off.

Just buy it as you would any other bat. The term 'pro bat' means nothing as, unless he is currently an international or a very well established pro the bat will be no better than anything you could buy from the right person/supplier anyway. Of course, if you're talking about one of Ponting's cast off's then it's probably worth a bit more but, again, only if it is proveable if you come to sell it.  :D

no good having what some would call a pro bat if it doesnt suit you, you'd be better off with a bat that is labelled as much lower but suits your game, the bat may have a middle out of this world (possibly no better than non "pro" bats anyway!) but if you cant find the middle defeats the object! bear it in mind. If you love the bat then forget its a pro bat and ask if its worth 250, ask your self if you could get something equally as decent for less, if there is only a little problem could that be straightened out by buying a complete custom bat for less?

do remember top kooks are probably 250+ too though.

my issue is i have always loved the newbery b-52 and i could always find the middle on it without an issue! so im wondering weather to go for a good model of them but in the shop i picked up a TT and it felt amazing! weighed in at 2.12 i think it was but picked up very well! i felt the bat for 250 i wasnt 100% on especially when i could get a better deal for a bat that may not be as good to most but felt good to me.
