Q1 Will you still be selling the four leaf clover bats?
A1 Future plans include keeping the four leaf clover. Plus there are other exciting future specials in the pipeline for early-mid 2012!
Q2 Have you had recent new investment in your business as your new range is a significant departure (and improvement) on previous ranges?
A2 Improvements have been made by developing better relationships with willow and sticker suppliers. And plenty of late nights planning the way forward.
Q3 Why did you name your bats after Titleist golf clubs?
A3 And indeed motorbikes!! We are well aware of the golf range with it’s exclusive lines. But we simply were looking to simplify the range and move away from older models and give them a fresh feel.
Q4 How much input does Robin Smith have in the business?
A4 Robin endorses and uses Chase products but doesn’t have direct input
Q5 Are you taking steps to reach out to the non-UK market?
A5 We currently have two shops in Australia – Ozone Sports and The Member Stand. But we are hoping to develop the new range into more non-UK markets eventually
Q6 Have you signed up any pros you can tell us about to use your gear for next season?
A6 Heather Knight (England Woman’s team) But not actively pursuing any pros. We like to think that Chase are manufacturing company and not a marketing company!
Q7 How much free gear will you give me for one of our Batoff tests? A bat would obviously be idea!
A7 We can provide one of our new style bats and softs from the demo stock for the Batoff – will arrange through Pete
Q8 Did Matthew Hoggard hand pick his bats and what weight did he use?
A8 Yes Matthew did hand pick it. He uses 2’9 but is not overly fussy.

A9 The knocking in machine was designed by myself (as we have designed a few bits in the workshop) and Pete will provide pictures in the workshop review
Q10 Do you think modern bats perform significantly better that 10-15 years ago or is this a bit of a myth?
A10 We believe it’s a myth. It’s too much of a generalisation
Q11 You make both modern and more traditional profiles…..which profiles do you prefer to make and why?
A11 The Finback is probably the most challenging profile. I prefer to make Custom / bespoke profiles as they are different from the stock shapes we do and present a different challenge
Q12 Which bat do you use in a game?
A12 I use a 2’10 Finback with a high middle
Q13 I heard a rumour you use the name Chase because when at school, you used to chase the girls away with a cricket bat?
A13 Partly true! I actually used to chase the boys away, which left me with all the girls!
Trivia pondering moment………Chase actually stands for Cricket Hockey And Sports Equipment! Hmmmm
Q14 Why should I choose Chase equipment over other similarly priced companies?
A14 Simple - Come to the factory and not to the warehouse! Everything is designed in-house including profiles, pads, gloves, packaging, etc therefore ensuring that you have unique cricket gear that is different from any other brand
Q15 What do you see as the next ‘trend’ in batmaking? i.e. think edges, concaving, etc…..
A15 Chase are looking into handle technology and addressing profile and shapes. A trend that may get more common is direct custom
Q16 What made you start using Kevlar toe guards? And what are the benefits?
