Best cheap bat you've ever owned!
« on: January 02, 2012, 11:47:47 AM »

I was reminiscing just this morning about some of the bats I've had the pleasure of owning, not realising just how many custom bats I have had made for me in the past, I couldnt stop thinking about one in particular! I had a spare £70 lying around after a rather fruitful christmas intake a few years ago and so I decided to take a punt on a readers challenger! Considering I had 4 other bats at the time. These included a chase 175, a laver & wood, a B&S LE and a canterbury 500, the readers was an awesome bat and very much held its own! I fell in love with it, and often chose it over my more prized bats!

Have any of you ever had one bat that you just loved that cost you the equiv of a loaf of bread??

I had a Malik Sarfi for the first quarter of a season a few years and and it was amazing. Unfortunately it snapped after about 10 games and the shop owner gave me a Malik Sher Amin as a replacement, it was no where near as good.

Also bought a AM 2 Good which I used in my best season to date. A bag full of runs and my first 2 centuries.

I had a BDM Amazer Y2K, I think that's what it was called. I found it at my local club used it til it snapped, brilliant bat!

Malik bats are SERIOUSLY underrated! Friend had a MALIK scoremaster, £20 on ebay in 2007.. Scored his first ton in 44 balls with it!!

Going back a bit, but at Uni bought a DF 405 from a lad who'd stopped playing for £20 and it *flew* - used it for about two and a half seasons, until the face fell to bits!

Don't know if this one counts, but I found a Kahuna Chaos in my club's changing rooms (it was left there for 2 weeks or so..) and that performed really well - was rather pleased ;)

If not, a £40 V Sports Plain bat I got off Hit4Six recently. It really goes well :)

Yeah a guy at a local market had some kit a few years back. Only had cricket stuff for about a month and this was the best bat he ever had. When I saw the price I had to get it.
